According to this T-Mobile page spotted by TMo News and at least one Twitter user, the update is live as of Tuesday morning.

HTC missed its 90-day goal to deliver Android 5.0 upgrades to all owners of the One M8 and One M7. They’re very sorry about that. But to give credit where it’s due, it does seem like the company is genuinely trying to get its hardware updated as soon as possible. Sprint’s One M8 and M7 have both been given the update, European M8 owners got it in late January, and owners of the unlocked, developer edition, and Google Play Edition of both phones should all have the update by now.

All of that is cold comfort if you’re waiting for HTC and/or your cell carrier to get a fresh software build out to you. T-Mobile customers know that frustration, but according to HTC product manager Mo Versi, that’s going to change in just a couple of days for owners of the newer One M8.

Once the over-the-air update file gets sent to the first batch of One M8 units, it shouldn’t be too difficult for enthusiasts to track down the ZIP files to manually update their phones. We’re still waiting on a Lollipop update for T-Mobile’s One M7, and both the One M8 and M7 on AT&T and Verizon, not to mention a few smaller carriers.

P.S. Mo Versi does a stellar job of keeping HTC’s US customers in the loop. Follow him on Twitter if you want this kind of news even before Android Police writes it up.

I’m just looking out for the well-being of stressed out commente1. Sometimes it helps when people take a step back and reflect on whether the product naming choices of faceless mega-corporatio1 really have an effect on their lives… and if so, why?
