Skype Launches Video Calling On Android

Skype for android

Skype has finally rolled out a new version of its Android
app which will allow users to make video calls on their phones – just like their iPhone-owning
friends.

iPhone users have been able to make Skype video calls
since late last year and now owners of Android handsets need no longer feel
inferior. That is of course as long as you’ve got a handset running the latest
version of Android, as the app will only work with Android 2.3 (or Gingerbread).
As of last month, less than 10 percent of Android handsets were running this version of the OS, making
the new app limited to a very select group of users. Skype did say however that it will be
rolling out support for more handsets soon.

As well as the obvious headline feature of being able to
make video calls, the updated app has also been given a lick of paint with an
all-new main menu and a new mood message box at the top of the Skype app menu
to makes it easier to share how you are feeling, what you’ve seen or what
you’re up to – if you’re into that sort of thing.

The new app will allow you make video calls over both 3G and
Wi-Fi and will let you connect with a host of compatible devices including
iPhones, iPod touches, PCs, laptops and even TVs. The app is available immediately
from the Android Market though there have been some delays reported in
downloading the app, which Skype says it is working on.

I think this is extremely expe1ive! I mean I could get a blu ray box of the movies for less!?!?
I’d co1ider buying them to a max. price of +/- 40$ for the 6 movies in HD, but like this, no. Then I’d even prefer putting my old dvd’s back into the player
